Requirements
Must:
- 3 to 7 years experience in cyber security, infrastructure, or systems engineering
- Background in roles such as Security Engineer, Systems Engineer, Network Engineer, or SOC Analyst
- Strong understanding of networking (TCP/IP, firewalls, segmentation) and operating systems (Windows/Linux)
- Familiarity with identity and access management concepts and cloud fundamentals
- Exposure to security tooling (SIEM, IDS/IPS, EDR)
- Solid grasp of core security principles such as defence in depth, least privilege, and zero trust concepts
- Understanding of designing and implementing secure systems to HMG security requirements
- Experience managing complex technology estates with varying risk profiles
- Desirable: Information Security certifications such as Security+, CISSP, CISM, GSEC, or SSCP
Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with internal and external security accreditations, standards, and control sets
- Transition from hands-on engineering or operational security into architecture, design assurance, and strategic security leadership
- Collaborate with security leadership and the wider department to shape secure-by-design solutions
- Influence engineering practices and embed security into enterprise programmes
