Requirements

Must:
- Around 10 years of AWS DevOps experience - Current valid SC Security Clearance or ability to achieve SC Clearance Status - Strong technical troubleshooting skills - Proactive mindset - Ability to balance stability with continuous improvement - Experience with AWS Services (Route53, S3, EC2, ECS, ECR, VPC, IAM, Lambda, DynamoDB, Cloudfront) - Familiarity with Cloud formation & Terraform - Proficient in Jenkins & GIT (Gitflow), Github Packages, Nexus, ECR - Scripting skills in Shell/Python/Groovy - Experience with build tools such as Maven and NPM - Knowledge of RHEL (Linux System Administration) - Proficiency with monitoring tools (CloudWatch, Datadog) - Familiarity with AWS Platform (Control Tower, Organization, Security Services) - Understanding of VPC networking and tools like Apigee and Cloudflare - Experience with configuration management tools like Chef and Ansible - Knowledge of Docker and containerization technologies - Experience with Github Administration and AWS Code Build - Awareness of AWS security tools and KMS management

Responsibilities

- Design, deliver, and support secure and scalable AWS infrastructure using services like EC2, S3, ECS, and FARGATE - Integrate SAST and DAST tools into CI/CD pipelines to enforce secure development practices - Automate infrastructure provisioning using CloudFormation, Terraform, or CDK - Use Chef and Ansible for automated server configuration, patching, and environment standardization - Build and manage CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or AWS Code Pipeline - Perform administrative and troubleshooting tasks on Linux-based systems, including log analysis and performance tuning - Lead technical triage and root cause analysis for infrastructure-related issues - Develop and deploy applications using Docker and AWS FARGATE - Use CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and third-party tools like Datadog for performance and cost efficiency - Configure AWS networking (VPCs, TGWs) and enforce governance via AWS Config and tagging policies - Maintain architecture diagrams, SOPs, and collaborate across engineering and product teams

We are a government financial client looking for an experienced AWS DevOps Engineer to join our technical AWS DevOps team on a permanent basis. This role is based out of either London, Leeds, or Edinburgh and offers hybrid working with two days a week on-site. We value strong technical troubleshooting skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to balance stability with continuous improvement, as you will be working on a cloud transformation project.
