Requirements
Must:
- Relevant academic and/or vocational qualifications; OR substantial recent relevant experience in a comparable role using databases.
- GCSE English and Mathematics at Grade C or above or NVQ level 2 Administration or equivalent.
- Demonstrable experience in MySQL, PHP, and HTML programming.
- Experience of data analysis and interpretation.
- Understanding of data management needs in archaeology and/or environmental sciences.
- Ability to demonstrate/teach technical methods/processes to students and researchers in archaeology and related disciplines.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Able to work well as part of a team.
- Good organizing skills.
- Ability to work methodically and accurately.
- Understanding of security and robustness needs in relation to database systems.
Responsibilities
- Manage, troubleshoot, and optimize the database system at the 14CHRONO radiocarbon laboratory.
- Ensure the database is secure, robust, efficient, and fit for purpose for handling radiocarbon-related samples.
- Provide technical support and guidance to students and researchers in archaeology and related disciplines.
- Analyze and interpret data as required.
- Collaborate with team members to maintain database integrity and efficiency.
- Conduct training sessions for users of the database system.
Description
We are the 14CHRONO radiocarbon laboratory at Queens University, offering a part-time opportunity at 0.2 FTE. Our laboratory focuses on radiocarbon analysis for archaeological and environmental sciences, and we are committed to providing a supportive work environment.
