Requirements
Must:
- Active SC Clearance (must be current and transferable)
- Strong Oracle DBA experience (11g/12c/19c)
- SQL Server administration (2016/2019)
- RMAN, Data Guard, ASM
- SQL performance tuning and optimisation
- Experience across Linux/UNIX and Windows environments
- Strong troubleshooting and production support experience
- Exposure to cloud database platforms (Azure / AWS / Oracle Cloud) (desirable)
- Experience in regulated or secure environments (desirable)
- Experience supporting high-availability enterprise systems (desirable)
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain Oracle (11g/12c/19c) and SQL Server (2016/2019) databases
- Perform upgrades, patching, migrations, and performance tuning
- Manage backup and recovery strategies (RMAN, Data Guard, AlwaysOn)
- Monitor database performance (AWR, indexing, partitioning, query tuning)
- Lead root cause analysis for performance incidents
- Support disaster recovery planning and failover testing
- Ensure database security, compliance, and audit readiness
- Provide L2/L3 production support
- Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams
Description
We are a major UK enterprise seeking an experienced Oracle DBA with strong SQL Server expertise to join our team. This role is hybrid, requiring 3 days onsite in Wokingham, with potential for additional onsite presence. The contractor will work within a secure, regulated environment on large-scale production database environments, supporting critical business systems. We value strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to collaborate with various teams. This is an excellent opportunity for those with active SC Clearance looking for their next contract role.
