Requirements
Must:
We are looking for candidates with strong hands-on experience in configuring Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco ASA, and Check Point firewalls. You should possess skill in firewall rule tuning and optimisation, and have a background in firewall migration projects within multi-vendor environments. Additionally, knowledge of network security architecture and best practices is essential. Please note that active UK SC Clearance is mandatory for this position.
Responsibilities
In this 6-month contract role, you will be responsible for configuring, implementing, and managing firewall solutions across multi-vendor environments. You will review, optimise, and enforce firewall rules and policies, as well as support migrations and replacement projects for firewall infrastructure. Monitoring traffic and logs, responding to incidents, and troubleshooting performance issues will be critical to your role. You will also apply patches, firmware updates, and maintain high availability (HA) firewall clusters, ensuring compliance with frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST, and PCI-DSS. Additionally, automating rule management and reporting wherever possible using tools like Ansible, Python, and APIs will be part of your responsibilities.
Description
We are offering a competitive day rate of £360 for this position. You will have the opportunity to work on complex, multi-vendor security projects within a hybrid model, with the option to work from London or Gloucester. Some out-of-hours work may be required. We are eager to find a skilled Firewall Engineer who can effectively collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders while maintaining compliance and security best practices.
