Requirements
Must:
- In-depth knowledge of Azure and AVD architecture, including design and migration best practices
- Strong expertise in AVD management, configuration, and deployment
- Proficiency with FSLogix user customisation
- Solid skills in Windows OS, Group Policy, PowerShell, and troubleshooting
- Understanding of cloud computing fundamentals (Azure)
- Prior experience in a dedicated Virtual Desktop Support Team
Desirable Skills:
- Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub, ARM Templates, Azure CLI, and Terraform
- Understanding of Agile (SCRUM) methodologies
- Experience with Terraform Infrastructure-as-Code pipelines
- Familiarity with JIRA and ServiceNow
Responsibilities
- Run, operate, and maintain Azure Virtual Desktop environments (both single and multi-session)
- Manage Windows environments, including policies, configurations, and application hosting in AVD
- Administer host pools, images, application access, and resource groups
- Customize multi-user environments using FSLogix and NetApp (or equivalent)
- Ensure high availability and disaster recovery across AVD components
- Develop and execute Infrastructure-as-Code pipelines using Terraform and PowerShell
- Maintain and manage CI/CD pipelines via GitHub
- Provide support to direct end users and help cross-skill junior SMEs
- Participate in an on-call rotation (1-in-3)
Description
We are a large global consultancy seeking an Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) Subject Matter Expert to join our Virtual Devices Team. This role is essential for supporting and enhancing a secure, high-performing global remote working environment within a Scaled Agile Framework. Our AVD estate supports over 5,000 users worldwide and involves administering infrastructure through the Azure Portal, DevOps CI/CD pipelines, Terraform, ARM templates, Azure CLI, and PowerShell. If you are an SC Cleared Azure AVD SME who is passionate about delivering secure, scalable, and high-performance virtual desktop environments, we would love to hear from you.
