Requirements
Must:
- Active SC clearance (mandatory)
- Minimum 3+ years demonstrable industry experience in core networking
- Detailed knowledge of Hierarchical IP Subnetting
- Proficient in routing protocols (OSPF & BGP – internal and external)
- Advanced configuration of routers, switches, and firewalls
- Familiarity with Cisco Nexus and Cisco IOS XE
- Understanding of Leaf & Spine network architecture and VXLAN overlay networks
- Experience with Dual Cloud / Dual Hub DMVPN solutions
- Knowledge of Firewall IPS/IDS and AAA Management platforms (e.g., Cisco ISE)
- Competent in keymat management and full QoS implementation (Traffic Shaping, Policing, Scheduling, Congestion Management & Avoidance)
- Certifications: CCNP (or equivalent) obtained within the last 5 years or VMware VCP-NV
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Competence in MS Office Suite
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science (or related discipline) is desirable
- Chartered Engineer status is a plus
Responsibilities
- Support the engineering team in the design, development, build, and validation of networking components for the Defence secure communications platform
- Produce and review design artefacts (HLD, LLD, configuration documentation)
- Support wider system testing activities
- Work with Service Management to diagnose and resolve issues
Description
Puma Berry Ltd is seeking a highly capable Network Engineer (SFIA Level 5) to support a major Defence secure communications platform based in Corsham. We offer a hybrid working model, requiring 2-3 days onsite per week, with a 24-month contract and possible extensions. The role includes high rates of £550 per day (inside IR35 initially with potential to move outside later). As part of our technical delivery team, you will be involved in the design, build, validation, and support of core networking components, contributing to critical UK public sector solutions.
