We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer with strong experience in JavaScript, particularly in React, as well as extensive experience with Python, ideally including geospatial data processing. You should be familiar with AWS, serverless architecture, and containerization. Proven commercial development experience in delivering client requirements is essential. We value familiarity with automated tooling for continuous integration, including automated testing and static analysis tools. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills are a must, along with the ability to collaborate with project managers to produce technical specifications. Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders are essential. An understanding of Git and experience using Airflow or similar tools will also be beneficial. Responsibilities
As a Senior Software Engineer, I will expect you to lead the technical design, development, and delivery of complex features and systems with significant business impact. You will drive architectural decisions that balance performance, scalability, maintainability, and business value. You will own end-to-end project lifecycles, from concept to deployment, ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality solutions. Mentoring, coaching, and supporting other engineers will be a crucial part of your role, as you foster technical growth and continuous improvement within the team. Collaboration will be key; you will work cross-functionally with Product, Science, Operations, and Design teams to shape roadmaps and drive impactful outcomes. I also expect you to lead system refactoring and optimization initiatives while managing technical debt pragmatically. Ensuring high observability and resilience through monitoring, alerting, and proactive issue prevention will be a priority. You will contribute to and influence technical strategy within your team or domain, linking engineering priorities to business objectives. Representing the engineering team in external discussions, you will communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively. Lastly, you will champion our engineering culture by promoting best practices in accessibility, performance, testability, and security.
