Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, and efficient data pipelines, ensuring that data is accessible, high-quality, and optimized for analytical and operational use.
- Contribute to the data engineering roadmap, ensuring our solutions align with business priorities, technical strategy, and long-term sustainability.
- Optimize data workflows and infrastructure, leveraging automation and best practices to improve performance, cost efficiency, and scalability.
- Collaborate with Data Science, Insight, and Governance teams to support data-driven decision-making and ensure seamless integration of data across the organization.
- Implement and uphold data governance, security, and compliance standards in line with regulatory and organizational best practices.
- Identify and mitigate risks, issues, and dependencies, ensuring continuous improvement in our data engineering processes and system reliability.
- Maintain quality throughout the data engineering lifecycle, delivering robust, scalable, and cost-effective solutions on time and within budget.
- Monitor and drive the data pipeline lifecycle from design and implementation to optimization and post-deployment performance analysis.
- Support operational resilience by ensuring our data solutions are maintainable, supportable, and aligned with architectural principles.
- Engage with third-party vendors to ensure external contributions align with technical requirements, project timelines, and quality expectations.
- Continuously assess emerging technologies and industry trends, identifying opportunities to enhance our data engineering capabilities.
- Document and maintain clear technical processes to facilitate knowledge sharing and operational continuity within the data engineering function.

Description
We are seeking three Data Engineers to join our large on-premise to AWS migration program, focusing on replicating data pipelines in preparation for a lift and shift to the cloud. This role involves reporting to the Lead Data Engineer and includes responsibilities such as fostering collaboration, advocating for best practices, and creating a culture of agility within our organization. You will also be expected to deputize for your line manager when necessary and support the product owner community while promoting a positive culture across the Technology department and the wider business. This position is predominantly remote but requires occasional travel to Bristol and is offered on a contract basis for 6 months+, with compensation ranging from £700 to £750 per day.
