Requirements
Must:
- 2+ years of experience in an IT/Technical Service helpdesk or support role.
- Proficiency in Linux and Windows Operating Systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and knowledge of computer networking.
- Excellent communication and instructional skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- A confident and personable attitude, with a commitment to high professional standards and quality focus.
- Good general education.
- Must have the legal right to work in the United Kingdom.
- Ability to commute or relocate to Leicester LE9 9FL before starting work.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and troubleshoot issues remotely, proactively resolving them or escalating to the next level of support as necessary.
- Collaborate with internal departments, especially the Service team, to determine the type of support required.
- Proactively undertake training on existing and new products to understand their operation and troubleshooting methods, while generating triage documents to support engineers.
- Analyze customer portals to monitor system performance and take appropriate action if performance falls below SLA.
- Log issues and resolutions in an appropriate report.
- Resolve any issues related to IT equipment in the field or during the testing and installation phases in our warehouse and production facilities.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
- Adhere to the company's Health & Safety Policy, maintaining a duty of care to all concerned.
- Follow the company's ethical policies at all times.
- Be prepared to take on any additional roles or work in other areas of the business as circumstances dictate.
Description
We are seeking a Technical Support Engineer to primarily support our Field Service Engineers and Installation Engineers. In this role, you will troubleshoot and set up or adjust our customers’ IT equipment, either directly via VPN, indirectly through engineers’ laptops, or by providing verbal guidance. The IT equipment you will be dealing with may include systems controlling moving electro-mechanical devices, such as electric security gates, or stationary units like retail self-order points. This full-time position offers a salary ranging from £28,000 to £30,000 per year. We provide benefits such as a company pension and free on-site parking. The role requires availability for day shifts, Monday to Friday, as well as night shifts and weekend availability as needed.
