Requirements
Must:
We are looking for candidates with the following essential qualifications:
- Strong commercial SQL Server DBA background in live production environments.
- Azure SQL expertise (Managed Instance, SQL Database, or SQL on Azure VMs).
- Proven HA/DR delivery experience, including AlwaysOn, clustering, and failover processes.
- Deep knowledge of performance tuning (execution plans, indexing, Query Store, Extended Events, and wait stats).
- Confident T-SQL skills for diagnostics and automation.
- Experience working within structured change control.
- Clear communication skills and a calm approach under pressure.
Nice to have:
- Experience in legal, insurance, or professional services.
- Exposure to DMS/PMS or other line-of-business systems.
- Familiarity with SSIS, ADF, or wider integration tooling.
- Interest in cloud transformation and platform uplift initiatives.
Responsibilities
In this hands-on position, you will play a key role in:
- Administering and optimizing SQL Server databases (2014–2022) across on-prem and Azure environments.
- Delivering performance tuning, query optimization, and advanced troubleshooting.
- Managing HA/DR, including AlwaysOn AGs, clustering, backups, and failover.
- Monitoring capacity, patching, security, and database integrity.
- Supporting application upgrades, releases, and T-SQL-driven integrations.
- Providing 3rd-line support for major incidents.
- Producing documentation, runbooks, and operational best practices.
- Working closely with developers, infrastructure teams, and external vendors.
