Must:
We are looking for a candidate with proven experience in building and managing marketing automation solutions, ideally within Salesforce or similar platforms. You should have a strong software engineering background with solid coding, architecture, and integration skills. Familiarity with data workflows, segmentation, analytics, and automation in a marketing context is essential. An understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and engineering excellence frameworks is also required. Excellent communication skills are a must, as you will need to engage with both technical teams and business stakeholders effectively. We value analytical and solution-oriented thinkers who are capable of leading complex technical initiatives. While not essential, prior leadership or mentorship experience of technical teams, experience in higher education or mission-driven organizations, and familiarity with hybrid working models and global/distributed teams would be advantageous.
Responsibilities
In this Lead Engineer role, you will drive the design, delivery, and evolution of marketing automation solutions within Salesforce. Your responsibilities will include leading engineering efforts for these solutions to ensure high performance, scalability, and reliability. You will architect and implement frameworks, automation pipelines, and integrations to support multi-channel marketing operations. Additionally, you are expected to promote and demonstrate technical best practices, including coding standards, testing, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring. You will collaborate with marketing, data, and product stakeholders to translate business requirements into effective technical designs and implementations. Overseeing data architecture, segmentation, and analytics support within marketing automation platforms will be part of your duties. Mentoring and guiding developers to foster a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement is also a key responsibility. Furthermore, you will manage operational stability, handle escalations, and ensure effective incident and problem resolution.
Description
This permanent position is based in Milton Keynes, with a hybrid working model requiring on-site attendance approximately one day a week. The salary range for this role is between £47,389 and £56,535, including a market supplement valid until July 2027.
