Requirements
Must:
We are looking for a candidate who has:
- 3 years of experience in designing and deploying ETL/ELT solutions with Azure Data Factory (ADF).
- 3 years of experience with T-SQL, including Functions, CTEs, complex joins, and query optimization.
- 1 year of experience with Azure Databricks/notebooks.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient data quality and governance skills.
- Excellent teamwork, interpersonal, and collaboration skills with colleagues and clients.
- The ability to explain technical subjects to non-technical individuals.
- Experience in coaching junior data engineers.
- Experience in checking the outputs of junior data engineers.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will make a major contribution by:
- Utilizing best practices and experience to create ETL/ELT processes using ADF/SQL and Azure Databricks.
- Being responsible for creating or guiding the low-level design of data solutions, translating high-level solutions into workable designs and work packages to deliver either personally or through other team members.
- Monitoring the quality of the overall data platforms, ensuring effective implementation of data ETL and database solutions from a reuse and performance optimization perspective.
- Developing highly complex, secure, governed, high-quality, efficient data ETL from various on and off-premise, internal and external data sources.
- Designing and building data observability and quality by design into all Data ETL, promoting self-testing pipelines that proactively identify processing issues or discrepancies.
- Checking the outputs of junior team members and providing constructive feedback.
- Explaining complex topics to junior team members and coaching them around Data Engineering and the Data Development Lifecycle.
- Taking accountability for peer review, testing, and deployment of junior team members’ code.

The Data Engineer position offers a salary of £40,000 plus up to 20% of your annual salary paid as a bonus. This role is based at our Blackpool office, with flexible working hours between 8 AM and 6 PM, Monday to Friday.
