Requirements
Must:
We are looking for a professional with a passion for data engineering and a proven ability to work in regulated or high-security environments. To be considered for this role, you should have:
- A minimum of 3 years' experience in data or platform engineering, or a related technical field.
- Expertise in Apache NiFi, including FlowFiles, Processors, Controller Services, and scheduling.
- Proven ability to design and optimize batch, real-time, and event-driven data flows.
- Experience integrating diverse data sources and systems (databases, APIs, cloud services).
- A strong understanding of data security, compliance, and governance principles.
- Proficiency in Java and SQL; familiarity with C#, Scala, or scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python) is a plus.
- Hands-on experience with Windows Server, Linux (RHEL), and virtualization tools (VMware, Citrix).
Desirable skills include exposure to data warehousing solutions (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery), experience operating in hybrid cloud/on-prem environments, and knowledge of data modeling, replication, and query optimization techniques. Please note that candidates will need to go through full SC Clearance.
Responsibilities
As a Data Platform Engineer, your key responsibilities will include:
- Designing, developing, and maintaining robust, secure, and scalable data pipelines using Apache NiFi and related technologies.
- Troubleshooting, optimizing, and maintaining NiFi flows while addressing performance, error handling, and throughput challenges.
- Integrating NiFi with cloud platforms, SQL/NoSQL databases, APIs, and third-party systems.
- Ensuring that our data infrastructure adheres to strict security and compliance standards.
- Supporting data migrations and implementing disaster recovery strategies.
- Monitoring data infrastructure performance and recommending continual improvements.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to align platform capabilities with business and regulatory needs.
- Producing documentation to ensure operational transparency and knowledge sharing.
- Upholding high standards of safety and environmental responsibility in line with our company policy, promoting a culture of care and compliance in everything you do.

We are offering this position as a full-time, on-site role located in Warton, with occasional travel to our Reading HQ. The duration of the contract is expected to be between 6-12 months, with an hourly rate of £50 PAYE or £67.47 Umbrella.
