Requirements
Must:
We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications and experience:
- A Master’s degree in an engineering background, specifically in:
- Geomatics Engineering
- Geospatial Engineering (Remote Sensing, GIS Science & Technology)
- Experience:
- 2–3 years in geospatial data science or development projects
- Familiarity with asset management workflows
- Technical Skills:
- Expertise in Python and its libraries (GDAL, rasterio, geopandas, scikit-learn)
- Proven ability to implement and evaluate machine learning models
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure
- Proficiency with GIS/remote-sensing platforms: ArcGIS and/or QGIS, Google Earth Engine
- Hands-on experience in processing satellite imagery data
Please note, candidates must be willing to relocate to the North East since the role requires office presence.
Responsibilities
As a Data Scientist at Origin, your responsibilities will include:
- Developing and maintaining Python scripts/tools for geospatial data processing
- Implementing satellite image analysis workflows
- Applying machine learning algorithms (classification, regression, clustering, prediction) on spatial datasets
- Integrating geospatial data with Asset Management Systems
- Documenting processes and sharing technical knowledge with cross-functional teams

Data analysis plays a crucial role in deriving custom equations that help us understand potential carbon savings. The role offers a pathway for career progression and personal development as you help us achieve ongoing success and growth. This is a full-time, permanent position with a salary of £42,000 per year.
