Requirements
Must:
- Must possess UK Government SC clearance eligibility (ILR or British Passport)
- Extensive experience in 3rd Line Support
- Strong knowledge of internal IT systems, including desktop, server, network, and cloud environments
- Proficient in administering Linux and Microsoft operating systems
- Familiarity with network and systems management tools
- Experience with implementing and maintaining robust security controls across IT infrastructure
- Skills in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting hardware, operating systems, networks, and applications
- Ability to produce clear and accurate technical documentation and procedures
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and Azure Active Directory / Entra ID
- Knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Intune (MDM)
- Proficiency in Windows Server & Linux (Debian/Ubuntu/RHEL or similar)
- Understanding of Active Directory & Group Policy
- Experience with firewall and network security technologies (e.g. Fortinet, Cisco, Palo Alto)
- Competence in handling VPN and remote access solutions
- Familiarity with ticketing and ITSM platforms (e.g. ServiceNow, Jira, Freshdesk)
- Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g. VMware, Hyper-V)
Responsibilities
- Manage and support internal IT systems while monitoring health and stability
- Respond to alerts and implement security controls, maintaining compliance with internal standards
- Assist clients in implementing technical fixes following assessments
- Produce documentation, procedures, and supporting materials
- Support colleagues with their day-to-day IT requirements
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
Description
We are a well-established technical organization located in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, focused on innovation, quality, and a strong team culture. We offer a competitive package of £45,000 - £50,000 along with meaningful bonuses and benefits. This is a hands-on System Administrator role where you will take active ownership of internal IT operations, working onsite to manage infrastructure and security while supporting both internal staff and client-facing technical remediation.
