Requirements
Must:
We are looking for candidates who possess the following qualifications:
- A Master’s degree or equivalent experience in Cybersecurity, Information Security, or Computer Science.
- Approximately 1–3 years of experience in cybersecurity, GRC, SOC, security operations, IT security, or consultancy.
- A solid understanding of ISO 27001, NIST CSF, and Cyber Essentials.
- Strong written communication skills, enabling the production of structured documentation, policies, and reports.
- A confident, curious, and organized nature with eagerness to learn.
- Interest in evolving into a more independent vCISO or senior consultant role.
Responsibilities
As a Cybersecurity Consultant, I will support the delivery of our vCISO engagements, which includes:
- Assisting with governance, risk management, reporting, and advisory.
- Developing security strategies and improvement roadmaps for client organizations.
- Supporting the preparation of governance documentation, risk registers, cyber maturity assessments, and client presentations.
- Contributing to threat analysis, vulnerability management, and the creation of DRP content.
- Helping produce blogs, frameworks, training materials, and cybersecurity guidance.
- Attending client meetings (both remote and on-site) and gradually assuming more responsibilities.

Onca Technologies is a fast-growing cybersecurity consultancy that provides virtual CISO (vCISO) services and Digital Risk Protection (DRP) to both private and public sector organizations. We are expanding our team to meet growing demand and to enhance our capabilities across Microsoft security tooling. This position is especially suited for individuals based in Scotland who can travel independently to Aberdeen and the surrounding area on an occasional basis. It is also ideal for someone early in their cybersecurity career, seeking rapid professional growth and the opportunity to gain real responsibility with clients. In this role, I will be involved in key projects and work closely with an experienced vCISO, allowing for valuable learning experiences and career development. Working with us offers exposure to major private and public sector cybersecurity clients, 22 days of holiday (plus bank holidays and additional office closure days during Christmas), flexible hybrid working arrangements, training and certification support, and a clear progression pathway to senior roles.
