Requirements
Must:
- Significant commercial experience developing enterprise-grade software in Python.
- Exposure to (or strong interest in) Rust for systems-level development.
- Experience building scalable distributed systems and cloud services (SaaS, PaaS).
- Database skills (SQL & NoSQL).
- Competence in multiple languages (Python, plus ideally Rust, C++, or TypeScript).
- Experience with design patterns, OO principles, and software best practice.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
- Track record of delivering results with autonomy and accountability.
- Right to live and work in the UK.
- (Nice to Have) Prior exposure to cybersecurity or encryption.
- (Nice to Have) Startup / scale-up engineering experience.
- (Nice to Have) Experience with Rust, Angular, or C++.
- (Nice to Have) CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, Helm, Flux).
- (Nice to Have) Linux and Windows development experience.
- (Nice to Have) Experience mentoring or supporting junior developers.
Responsibilities
- Develop robust services in Python for enterprise-scale distributed systems.
- Apply best practices in OO design, refactoring, and scalable architecture.
- Contribute to Rust components and cross-train in modern systems languages.
- Collaborate with architects, DevOps, and QA to design, review, test, and deploy solutions.
- Deliver horizontally scalable, cloud-native applications (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Triage and resolve complex issues in distributed systems.
- Engage in Agile rituals, mentoring peers, and continuously improving the engineering process.
