We seek candidates with the following essential experience, skills, and knowledge:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS and GCP, and at least 2 years with Azure/Microsoft-centric data ecosystems, including Synapse, Fabric, Power BI, MS SQL Server, and Azure Data Lake.
- At least 3 years of proficiency in data modeling, database technologies and designs, and building data pipelines, alongside strong knowledge of SQL, NoSQL, big data technologies, and Azure cloud-based data solutions.
- Experience in a Data Architect role or a similar position, ideally in a complex organizational or data environment.
- Ability to take ownership of technical design decisions, confidently advocate for chosen solutions, and design and deliver to business requirements.
- Skills in analyzing complex data requirements, mapping data relationships, and recommending appropriate tools or platforms for integration, with an awareness of the commercial implications of design choices.
- Experience in defining data integration designs to source, cleanse, and transform data, ensuring data quality, performance, and reliability.
- Excellent communication skills to produce clear advice on complex data architecture issues for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience working within agile delivery teams and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- A working knowledge of defining data governance and quality principles and experience in metadata management.
- Familiarity with computing frameworks for distributed scalability, reliability, and virtualization.
Responsibilities
As a Data Architect on our Data Strategy Team, I will invite you to join our mission of upgrading and modernizing our data platform through our dedicated program, Programme Ocean. In this role, you will:
- Work with leading cloud technology to help transform the way data is utilized in the public sector.
- Collaborate closely with our Head of Data Engineering and support newly appointed Data Engineers in building efficient and automated solutions and processes.
- Engage in our ambitious data modernization program, leveraging modern and evolving technology to maximize the value of data and insights at Ofwat.
