Requirements
Must:
- Strong hands-on experience with Oracle Solaris operating systems
- Expertise in LDOM configuration and management
- Familiarity with Oracle T-series hardware (T5, T7, T8)
- Proven experience in migration projects and UNIX system upgrades
- Knowledge of cluster technologies for resilience and failover
- Solid understanding of UNIX networking, storage, and security principles
- Must hold SC clearance
- Must be a UK British National (not dual passport holder)
- Ability to work with sensitive and classified information in compliance with government and organizational security policies
- Certifications in Oracle Solaris or related UNIX technologies (preferred)
- Experience in large-scale enterprise environments (preferred)
- Familiarity with automation tools and Scripting (e.g., Shell, Python) (preferred)
Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain Oracle Solaris systems on T-series hardware (T5, T7, T8)
- Configure and manage LDOMs (Logical Domains) for virtualization
- Perform system migrations and upgrades across UNIX environments
- Design and implement resilience clusters for high availability and disaster recovery
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot complex UNIX issues
- Collaborate with infrastructure and application teams to ensure seamless integration
- Maintain compliance with security and operational standards
Description
We are a blue-chip client currently seeking a UNIX Engineer for a 4-month contract in Barrow in Furness, Cumbria. The role involves full onsite work and requires candidates to hold active SC clearance and be sole UK nationals.
