Requirements
Must:
- Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).  
- 3-5 years of experience in network engineering or IT infrastructure support in a service provider setting.  
- Demonstrable experience with hybrid infrastructure: on-premises, virtualized, and cloud.  
- Useful certifications include: CCNA / CCNP, Azure Network / Virtual Desktop, and other network/security accreditations.  
- Strong grasp of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, subnetting.  
- Experience with network hardware from multiple vendors (Cisco, Fortinet, HP, Aruba, etc.).  
- Skills in firewall and VPN configuration/troubleshooting.  
- Proficient with Azure solutions: virtual desktops, VNETs, network security, connectivity methods.  
- Familiarity with legacy systems (Active Directory, Hyper-V / VMware, RDS).  
- Proficient with monitoring tools (e.g., PRTG, SolarWinds, Zabbix, Azure Monitor).  
- Knowledge of security best practices relevant to network and cloud infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Act as an escalation point for major or complex network and infrastructure incidents from the service desk.  
- Support client environments that vary from legacy on-premises to hybrid and full cloud systems.  
- Maintain and troubleshoot LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, VPN, and firewall setups across multiple customer sites.  
- Manage Azure environments, particularly virtual desktop solutions: session hosts, image deployment, user originations, and connectivity.  
- Install, configure, and maintain network hardware (switches, routers, firewalls, access points) from vendors like Cisco, Fortinet, HP, and Aruba.  
- Design and maintain secure, scalable, and resilient network architectures in cooperation with clients and external vendors.  
- Contribute to modernization and migration projects, moving from older infrastructures to hybrid/cloud solutions.  
- Keep up-to-date documentation for each client, including network diagrams, baselines, and change logs.  
- Mentor and support first- and second-line service desk engineers, handling escalations.

In the role of Senior Network Infrastructure Engineer, based in Newcastle (Hybrid: approximately 2 days remote), you will support a wide range of environments, from older on-premises systems to modern cloud infrastructures, ensuring reliable and secure service delivery to our clients. The salary for this position is up to £50,000.
