Requirements
Must:
- Proven experience in a cyber security role
- Strong knowledge of cyber security frameworks and standards (e.g., NCSC guidance, ISO 27001, GDPR)
- Experience with security tools such as SIEM, endpoint protection, vulnerability scanners, and firewalls
- Ability to conduct risk assessments and vulnerability assessments
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills for training and reporting
- Ability to work on a flexible shift pattern, including Out of Hours duties
- Familiarity with public sector cyber security frameworks (e.g., Cyber Essentials Plus, PSN, NIS2)
Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain robust cyber security controls
- Monitor security alerts and threat intelligence feeds
- Lead or support incident response activities (investigation, containment, eradication, and recovery)
- Manage and maintain security tools
- Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and coordinate remediation efforts
- Support development and enforcement of security policies, standards, and procedures
- Conduct risk assessments and contribute to the organizations risk register
- Ensure compliance with public sector cyber security frameworks
- Deliver cyber security awareness training and phishing simulations
- Provide security input into ICT and digital transformation projects
- Conduct security reviews of new systems and services
- Liaise with internal stakeholders and external partners
- Prepare reports and dashboards for senior management
Description
We are seeking a Specialist Security Officer to play a key role in our organization, implementing and maintaining robust cyber security controls to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and standards. You will join a dedicated team, working flexibly to cover service hours, contributing to our cyber resilience strategy and promoting a culture of security across the organization. This position is pivotal in enhancing our security posture and supporting various ICT and digital transformation projects.
