Requirements
Must:
- I require a minimum of 5 years' experience in support engineering or a related discipline.
- I need strong knowledge of in-service engineering processes and lifecycle activities.
- You must have a proven ability to provide authoritative technical advice in complex environments.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills are essential.
- I expect awareness of safety, environmental, and product assurance standards.
- Desirable skills include experience in defence, naval, or submarine support environments, familiarity with defect resolution and operational defect management, and knowledge of maintenance planning and risk/issue management.
Responsibilities
- I will provide authoritative technical advice in response to customer and stakeholder queries.
- I am responsible for supporting defect management and resolution, including urgent operational issues.
- I will research, process, and deliver technical information from existing sources.
- I will contribute to maintenance planning, risk management, and design change activities.
- Preparing technical briefs, reports, and evidence for internal and external stakeholders is part of my role.
- I will also participate in customer support meetings and working groups.
Description
I am looking for an experienced Principal Engineer – Technical Support & Authoritative Advice to deliver responsive engineering support for in-service platforms and systems. This role is based in Barrow, UK, on a 12-month contract with a hybrid work pattern of 3-4 days onsite per week. The rate is £72.54 per hour umbrella or £53.73 per hour PAYE, which includes £7.81 per hour holiday pay. Candidates should have worked in a military/defence environment within the last 12 months or be capable of obtaining SC level security clearance.
