Network Engineer

In this role, you will help support our currently installed LAN, WAN, and remote access systems. You will be responsible for second and third line troubleshooting and resolving network issues. Additionally, you will support other IT departments in deploying new systems to ensure their objectives related to appropriate network access are met. Your duties will include: - Configuring, deploying, and maintaining network switches and routers. - Performing low-level physical and logical network troubleshooting. - Using and developing existing monitoring tools to enhance monitoring of network availability and reporting on network utilization. - Implementing new connectivity to support various requirements coming from the business and IT departments. - Supporting all network, firewall, and communication links that provide remote access to our systems, and assisting others in resolving issues that may or may not be caused by network access. - Collaborating with service providers, resellers, and support companies, as well as assisting other IT personnel and supporting end users directly when necessary. - Following IT procedures, documentation, and policies, while creating and modifying procedures to help others provide support. - Advising 1st and 2nd line support engineers and Systems Administrators on the network's condition and ability to support their systems. - Raising change requests for review and authorization when applicable. - Arranging authorization from department heads for scheduled or emergency downtime of systems affecting their operations. - Logging hardware, software, and technical support requests with various support agencies for a range of systems involving the network. - Carrying out emergency or urgent changes to the physical or logical network, such as switch installations and configuration changes to support PC installations and moves. - Blocking network access for any device that could impact the integrity and availability of the network.
