We are looking for an experienced Azure Cloud Architect who possesses a proven background in Azure Cloud Architecture, including Azure Stack and hybrid models. You should have hands-on experience with security tooling, network controls, and infrastructure-as-a-service (VM) management. A strong understanding of cloud-native security principles and modern enterprise security tooling is essential. Experience leading cloud migrations from on-premises or private data centers to Azure is required. Familiarity with Oracle environments, especially during infrastructure transformation initiatives, is a plus. You should also have practical knowledge of DevSecOps and securing CI/CD pipelines, alongside a strong foundation in network security, segmentation, and Azure networking principles.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will lead the design and implementation of secure architecture across Azure cloud and private data center environments. You will define and enforce security best practices for Azure tooling, cloud workloads, and infrastructure components. Additionally, you will architect solutions for large-scale data center migrations and greenfield deployments, including transformation from IaaS to PaaS/service compute. You will oversee the deployment and optimization of the Microsoft Defender Suite and cloud-native Azure security tooling. Your responsibilities will also include designing and managing network security components such as NSGs, network segmentation, VNet peering, and topology planning. Furthermore, you will integrate security into development pipelines using DevSecOps approaches and collaborate with stakeholders across IT, DevOps, and Compliance to ensure secure design, governance, and operations.
Description
This position offers a competitive daily rate of £700 - £750 and is classified as inside IR35. The role is primarily remote, with occasional site attendance required in Gloucester. This contract will last until the end of the year. If you have certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, or CISM/SSCP, that is highly desirable. Additionally, awareness of compliance and risk frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST, and CIS Benchmarks will be advantageous. We appreciate candidates who can support threat modeling, cloud risk assessment, and incident response planning, as well as exposure to Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) security using tools like Terraform, ARM templates, or Bicep. Being skilled in translating technical risks into business terms for senior stakeholders, along with an awareness of multi-cloud environments (e.g., AWS, GCP), will also benefit your application.
