Must:
We are looking for a Software Development Project Manager with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in software project management within complex engineering or technology environments. You should have a proven record of delivering multi-million-pound software projects, ideally with experience managing safety-critical or regulated software development projects in sectors such as rail, aerospace, automotive, defense, or medical. A strong understanding of software development lifecycles (Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid) is essential, along with a professional project management accreditation (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP, APM). Proficiency in project management tools like MS Project and excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills are required. A background in transport or safety-related technologies would be advantageous.
Responsibilities
As our Software Development Project Manager, you will lead and deliver multiple software development projects to defined time, cost, and quality targets. Your responsibilities will include planning, managing, and monitoring project schedules, budgets, resources, and risks. You will coordinate Agile and hybrid development teams, ensuring clear delivery milestones and accountability. Effective management of risks, issues, and change control processes is crucial, and you will escalate them when necessary. You will ensure all software deliverables meet safety-critical standards and relevant industry regulations, promote best practices for software quality, architecture, and security, and maintain close alignment between project teams, customers, and internal stakeholders. Additionally, you will drive a culture of continuous improvement, produce accurate project documentation and progress reports, and incorporate customer feedback into project delivery to maximize value and usability.
Description
This role is based primarily in Ashby, requiring you to be on-site three days per week, with one day per month in Chippenham, and the remainder of the time will be remote. This engagement is outside IR35 and is being offered as a contract position. The duration of the contract will be specified (e.g., 6–12 months) and the rate will be competitive based on your experience.
