Requirements
Must:
- Strong hands-on experience with Next-Generation Firewalls (NGFW) and SASE solutions
- Experience with Palo Alto Networks and/or Fortinet highly desirable
- Solid understanding of security frameworks including ISO 27001, NIST, PCI DSS, and GDPR
- Experience in technical and compliance reviews
- Familiarity with security assurance criteria and risk assessment methodologies
- Active SC clearance required
Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed technical and compliance reviews of NGFW and SASE platforms
- Assess firewall configurations, policies, and security profiles against internal criteria and industry best practices
- Review and validate security controls across on-premises data centres, branch offices, and cloud-based environments
- Validate alignment with regulatory and internal governance standards and identify compliance gaps
- Produce structured, audit-ready documentation including compliance mapping and risk assessments
- Define and support implementation of changes to align environments with security assurance standards
- Engage regularly with business units and engineering teams, providing progress updates
- Contribute to the enhancement of security review processes and documentation standards
- Translate complex technical findings into clear recommendations for various stakeholders
Description
We are one of the UKs largest producers of zero-carbon energy and are seeking an experienced Network Security Engineer to join our team. This contract role is primarily remote, with occasional travel to Bristol. You will play a key role in supporting a comprehensive security assurance and compliance review across our complex, multi-environment estate. Our team is dedicated to ensuring a robust security posture, and we value collaboration and continuous improvement in our processes.
