Requirements
Must:
- Experienced as an infrastructure engineer
- Strong knowledge of Linux OS, Windows Server OS, and virtualisation (VMware, Hyper-V)
- Good understanding of networking, routing, and switching fundamentals (Cisco)
- Analytical mindset with a strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to explain complex IT concepts
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and within a team
Desirable:
- Certifications (CCNA, RHCA, MCSE, VCP-DCV)
- Exposure to Infrastructure as Code (Ansible, Terraform)
- Practical scripting or automation skills (Powershell, Python, Bash)
- Familiarity with containerisation tools (Docker, Kubernetes, Podman)
- Experience administering enterprise systems (Atlassian, GitHub, M365)
- Understanding of Information Security and Compliance (ISO27001, Cyber Essentials)

- Design, build, manage, and support the IT infrastructure
- Maintain IT infrastructure
- Troubleshoot and rectify problems
- Develop and deploy new infrastructure
- Monitor system performance
- Oversee end-user device build process
Description
We are a government organisation based in Herefordshire supporting a critical communications system relied upon by hundreds of deployed users. As part of our IT engineering team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our infrastructure. We are looking for someone who enjoys being hands-on while also thinking strategically about system integration. Holding a UKNSV security clearance of SC is essential, with DV being desirable.
