Requirements
Must:
- Excellent written and communication skills, including writing bids, technical reports and giving presentations
- Proven ability in delivering software development programmes to time, cost, quality
- Knowledge of software delivery estimation techniques and experience in identifying best approaches
- Identification and application of software development lifecycles to delivery programmes
- Management of software development risk
- Planning and leading software work-package and delivery projects
- Leading software design activities and providing engineering support throughout design, test and acceptance phases
- Leadership of the technical concept development of innovative software solutions
- Generating software specifications and technical procurement specifications
- Documenting the design process and demonstrating the verification of system requirements
- Ability to understand UML diagrams is desirable
- Capability of gaining UK MOD Security Clearance to SC level
Responsibilities
- Lead activity to deliver complex software engineering projects for our defence maritime client TKMS Atlas UK
- Manage and coordinate technical teams for new product development initiatives from an early phase in the development lifecycle
- Plan and lead software work-package and delivery projects
- Ensure that specifications are met, problem areas and risks are identified throughout design, test and acceptance phases
- Provide engineering support and leadership in software design activities
- Develop innovative software solutions to meet challenging technical requirements
- Generate software specifications and technical procurement specifications
- Document the design process and verify system requirements for compliance
Description
We are TKMS Atlas UK, seeking an Engineering Manager (Software) to join our team in Winfrith, Dorset, offering hybrid working with 3 days per week onsite. This role involves leading complex software engineering projects in the defence maritime sector.
