Requirements
Must:
- Self-motivated with a real passion for Network and IT technologies.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Effective analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to plan and organize work using your own initiative.
- Keen interest in IT and staying up to date with current and future developments.
- Level 3 Qualification in a related subject (apprenticeship/A levels/BTEC, etc.) OR equivalent work experience.
- Must not be enrolled in another funded apprenticeship or higher education program when starting this apprenticeship.
- Must apply for an apprenticeship that is unrelated to any qualifications already held at the same or higher level.
- Must reside in England at the time the apprenticeship commences.
Responsibilities
- Install, document, maintain, and troubleshoot networking equipment.
- Assist in supervising network engineering works at Exeter HQ and remotely.
- Respond to and resolve incidents while investigating and diagnosing network issues.
- Collaborate with users, other technical staff, and suppliers as needed.
- Implement necessary changes for systems delivery, including configuring switches, load balancers, and firewalls.
- Maintain local and wide area networks to deliver weather data and enterprise communications.
- Work closely with lead network specialists and other IT experts within the Met Office.
- Participate in an on-call roster as required to provide 24/7/365 support.
Description
At the Met Office, we are thrilled to announce our recruitment for Network Engineering Level 4 Apprenticeships, set to commence in September 2025. This full-time position entails 37 hours per week, and our commitment is to create a working pattern that benefits everyone. While this opportunity is temporary for up to 19 months, there is significant potential for it to evolve into a permanent role upon successful completion of the apprenticeship.
As a Network Engineer Level 4 Apprentice, I will guide you toward a career in Network Engineering with industry-recognized qualifications and tailored support. You will engage with our Network Services team, delivering crucial data and voice communication services.
