Requirements
Must:
- Strong Java development experience
- Building and deploying cloud-based services
- Unit testing and automated testing practices
- DevSecOps exposure using tools such as Tekton, ArgoCD or SonarQube (desirable)
- Experience with container platforms such as Kubernetes or OpenShift (desirable)
- Familiarity with Quarkus framework (desirable)
- Front-end development with Angular (desirable)
- Ability to obtain or already hold SC clearance
Responsibilities
- Designing and building high-quality, maintainable Java-based services
- Developing reusable patterns that improve delivery speed and engineering standards
- Writing unit and automated tests to support robust, production-ready software
- Taking part in design and code reviews with a focus on security, scalability, and long-term maintainability
- Documenting solutions clearly and sharing knowledge across the team
- Working closely with the Scrum team to meet sprint commitments
- Participating fully in sprint planning, stand-ups, and reviews in a true Agile environment
Description
We are hiring a Software Engineer to join our modern Agile Scrum team building cloud-native geospatial software used in real-world, mission-critical environments. This role offers genuine end-to-end engineering ownership, allowing you to be involved from initial design through development, testing, and deployment. Our Newcastle-based team enjoys flexible working, collaborating in the office three days per week and working from home for two days. We prioritize a strong sense of integrity and awareness of compliance requirements, as our software supports sensitive and high-value use cases.
