Requirements
Must:
- Strong backend engineering experience and problem-solving skills
- Experience designing APIs for mobile applications and event-driven architectures
- Bachelors degree in a related field or equivalent experience
- Preferred: Experience building distributed microservices using Java or Kotlin with Spring Boot
- Knowledge of OAuth 2.0 and secure API design
- Experience with AWS cloud services
- Familiarity with API design principles and automated testing
Responsibilities
- Design and build scalable backend services and APIs supporting mobile and event-driven architectures
- Contribute across the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) from requirements through deployment and maintenance
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers within the team
- Promote best practices such as TDD, BDD, and secure API design
- Collaborate with technical leads, IT teams, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions
- Apply design patterns and engineering best practices to create maintainable, efficient systems
- Contribute to continuous improvement through new ideas, tools, and approaches
Description
We are looking for a Senior Application Engineer with strong backend and cloud development expertise to help design and build scalable, secure services that power our Internal Platforms. This role is based in Manchester, UK, and offers a hybrid work schedule with in-office days from Tuesday to Thursday.
