Requirements
Must:
- Degree level qualification (or equivalent) and/or relevant experience in a technical discipline, preferably in food technology or development.
- Experience working cross-functionally and with third parties.
- Proven track record of leading projects from brief to delivering in-market.
- Passion for creative food product design and development.
- Excellent communication and project management skills.
- Attention to detail, particularly with experimentation, data recording, and analysis.
- Strong time management and priority-setting abilities.
- Awareness of Health & Safety standards.
- European language skills are highly desirable.
Responsibilities
- I will plan, organise, and execute a variety of project types as assigned, working closely with R&D experts from various fields.
- I will collaborate with marketing teams in global, European, and local country teams to define project scope at the start of projects.
- I will leverage my creative talents to develop outstanding products.
- I will lead the technical delivery of projects, covering diverse topics such as product concept development, formulation design, lab and pilot plant prototypes, cost calculation, specifications, quality assessments, legislation compliance checks, and claims assessments.
- I will manage supplier relationships while closely collaborating with other functions such as Procurement.
- I will lead and manage pilot plant and factory trials for prototype/product development.
- I will write and manage specifications and systems data for the products that I oversee.
- I will provide key updates for our Innovation Process Management and other relevant systems.
- I will develop selling stories and support Customer Development teams during sell-in meetings.
- I will provide support and training for junior members of the team.
Description
We are currently looking for 3 Senior Product Developers to join our global FMCG client, Unilever, well-known for iconic brands such as Ben & Jerry's, Knorr, Walls, and Marmite. You will become an integral part of their dynamic FMCG environment at our client's Research & Development facility located at Colworth Science Park in Sharnbrook, Bedfordshire. These are full-time temporary roles: one is maternity cover until 31/03/2026, and two positions will last for 12 months, requiring 37.50 hours per week, Monday to Friday. We offer competitive compensation of up to £46,000 per annum, pro rata, depending on experience. The role currently offers a blend of remote and onsite working, flexible based on business needs. In your position, you will be at the forefront of the Unilever Ice Cream business in Europe, leading innovation within a successful and fast-paced environment, closely linked to global, regional, and local markets. You will work on a diverse range of Ice Cream experiences, from familiar in-home products to popular out-of-home offerings. Your efforts will shape and deliver brilliant, sustainable product experiences that resonate with consumers and customers alike.
