Requirements
Must:
- Strong experience with at least one high-level programming language.
- Considerable experience using a high-level design methodology, particularly knowledge of UML.
- Strong understanding of all aspects of the software lifecycle with good knowledge of software lifecycle models (e.g., Waterfall, Agile).
- Bachelor’s degree (BEng/BSc) in Computer Science or a relevant Engineering or Numerate subject (technology, engineering, or science-related discipline).
- Good knowledge of appropriate software standards (e.g., ISO/IEC/IEEE 12207).
- Knowledge of Ada95 is desirable.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards it is desirable.
- Comprehensive understanding of configuration management and experience with a configuration management tool.
- An understanding of model-based techniques is advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Derive and maintain a set of software requirements from a baseline set of system requirements.
- Produce and maintain a software design to meet a set of software requirements.
- Use the software design to create a deliverable software solution.
- Conduct peer reviews or verify peers' solutions within our Maritime Services sector.
- Undertake technical reviews, and verify and authorize software engineering designs.
- Act as the Engineering technical lead for a software solution at a sub-system level.
- Maintain software solutions by addressing reported defects and/or adding new functionalities.
- Support the development of individuals and teams to enhance their skills and competencies.
- Produce or assist in creating software estimates for sub-systems.
Description
We are a multinational Aerospace & Defence organization seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join our Great Baddow site in a hybrid working role. We offer a competitive salary of up to £80,000 with an additional 10-20% bonus based on performance.
