Requirements
Must:
- Proven experience managing and developing high-performing software/data engineering teams.
- Strong technical expertise in data engineering and modern pipeline tools (e.g., dbt, Airflow, Kafka, etc.).
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with at least one programming language (Python, Java, or Scala).
- Hands-on experience leading teams of engineers working with cloud data platforms (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, or equivalent).
- Strong understanding of data governance, security, and compliance standards.
- Experience with AI/ML platforms or generative AI technologies is advantageous.
Responsibilities
- I will lead, manage, and develop the Data Engineering team through all stages of project delivery.
- I will oversee the design and implementation of scalable, modern data pipelines and platforms.
- I will collaborate with product and engineering stakeholders to align technical delivery with strategic objectives.
- I will ensure best practices in data governance, quality, and compliance are consistently applied.
- I will provide technical leadership and foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and professional growth, with the opportunity to scale and grow the team over time.
Description
We are MCS Group, seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a newly established Data Engineering team based in Belfast. Joining one of the most interesting companies to set up in Northern Ireland in recent years, this fledgling, growing team is responsible for developing a next-generation data platform that delivers advanced business intelligence, AI/ML, and generative AI capabilities, leveraging large-scale proprietary datasets utilized by some of the world's largest organizations. This role offers a salary of up to £100,000 with a 10% bonus, along with wider benefits including an enhanced holiday allowance, private medical coverage, critical illness benefits, and other well-being benefits. We offer a hybrid work model with 2-3 days per week onsite in Belfast.
