Requirements

Must:
I am looking for candidates who are currently studying towards a degree in Engineering (including General, Mechanical, Manufacturing/Production, Aeronautical/Aerospace, Electrical/Electronic, or Software), Computing, Maths, Physics, or Astronomy disciplines. Please note that security clearance is required; candidates must be British citizens or dual UK nationals with British citizenship. After the offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

Responsibilities

As part of the Software team at MBDA, you will be involved in delivering software for the next generation of weapons in a dynamic and ever-evolving environment. Your responsibilities will include working closely with other teams at various development stages of our weapons systems, engaging in both embedded and front-end software development on multiple platforms such as Windows and Linux, and utilizing languages like C, C++, C#, and Java. You will gain exposure to all aspects of the software development lifecycle, have the opportunity to collaborate with others in the annual multi-national Software Engineering Challenge, and experience opportunities to travel. Additionally, you will learn about the functional and technical robustness of project deliverables and the importance of technical documentation, while engaging with other departments to understand a general overview of our business.

I am excited to offer a 1-year placement starting in September 2026, enabling you to apply your university learning to real-world projects and technologies. The salary for this position is £23,495, and we provide dynamic hybrid working, with an expectation of 4-5 days per week on-site due to workload classification. Our company offers a range of benefits, including a company bonus based on performance, a pension with a maximum total contribution of up to 14%, opportunities for paid overtime, 25 days of annual leave plus an option to purchase extra holiday, and up to 15 additional flexi leave days.
