Must:
We are looking for candidates who possess strong coding and scripting skills, including PowerShell, Python, and Regex. You should have proven experience working with APIs (HTTP/S, JSON) and hands-on expertise with Splunk Enterprise Security, including upgrades, data ingestion, and optimisation. Experience in proxy administration, Windows (SMB) and Nix (NFS) storage, IIS configuration, and Active Directory/LDAP authentication is essential. You should also be proficient in managing certificates, applying software updates, and supporting end-of-life refresh activities. Familiarity with VMware or Hyper-V environments and virtual networking, along with demonstrated capability in implementing and maintaining cyber security tooling is important. Additionally, knowledge of AI or machine learning for workflow and playbook optimisation will be beneficial.
Responsibilities
As a Cyber Security Engineer at MBDA, your vital role will include maintaining and optimising our Security Operations Centre (SOC) tools and environments to ensure peak performance and visibility across our networks. You'll act as the subject matter expert (SME) for Splunk across all cyber security and observability use cases. Your key responsibilities will also cover leading SOC automation initiatives using scripting and SOAR tools, optimising processes through AI and ML technologies, supporting alert tuning, connectivity, and visibility across monitored networks, and overseeing SOC appliance maintenance. You will also be expected to support the creation and testing of playbooks, scripts, and automation workflows, track and coordinate upgrades of SOC tools, collaborate with Information Management (IM) teams to enhance tool performance, provide expert input at incident meetings, contribute to proof-of-concept (POC) testing, and support SOC investigations by creating advanced queries and scripts.
