Requirements
Must:
- Proven experience in server infrastructure administration and third-line support
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server (including Active Directory and Group Policy)
- Practical experience with VMware technologies (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter)
- Hands-on expertise with HP storage platforms (e.g., 3PAR, Primera, Alletra)
- Solid working knowledge of Veeam Backup & Replication for backup and disaster recovery
- Understanding of change, incident, and problem management processes
- Eligibility to work in the UK and to undergo and maintain UK government DV Clearance
Desirable Experience:
- Experience with Windows Server roles such as DFS and DNS
- Familiarity with performance monitoring and capacity planning for storage and backup systems
- Experience in developing automation or scripting for routine maintenance tasks
- ITIL Foundation or equivalent service management certification
Responsibilities
We are looking for a dependable and hands-on Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer to help maintain and enhance our secure on-premise environment. Your role will involve providing reliable third-line support, diagnosing and resolving issues across servers, storage, and backup systems. On a daily basis, you’ll maintain and enhance Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, and VMware environments while managing HP storage and Veeam backup platforms to ensure data security and business continuity.
You will take ownership of maintenance schedules, patching, and change activities, ensuring our infrastructure remains secure, resilient, and well-documented. Additionally, you’ll contribute to service stability and continuous improvement by identifying root causes, implementing permanent fixes, and optimizing performance and reliability.

This position is ideal for a seasoned infrastructure engineer who is confident in managing enterprise-grade systems within a secure or air-gapped environment. You’ll be responsible for critical infrastructure components, supporting major upgrades, and actively ensuring performance, availability, and data integrity across our physical and virtual platforms.
