Must:
We are looking for a candidate with a background in FinTech, SaaS, or Finance, though this is not essential. You should have a proven track record of delivering technical solutions on time and within budget. It is essential that you feel comfortable leading small teams, managing change control, and working with SQL at a deep level, including performance tuning, data manipulation, and reporting.
Responsibilities
As the Principal Developer, you will guide your team through the full software development lifecycle, from solution design and build to testing and defect management. You will be the first point of technical escalation outside of projects and play a key role in peer reviews and best practice adoption. Ensuring delivery remains on track and within scope will also be your responsibility. This role requires you to thrive in a fast-paced, client-facing environment while balancing hands-on technical work with coaching and leadership. Additionally, you will manage individual development plans, set goals, and help your team grow in confidence and capability.

Our company is a well-established and growing technology business seeking a Principal Developer to join our Professional Services team. This leadership role blends technical delivery with people development, allowing you to shape how solutions are built and contribute to the growth of our teams. You'll be stepping into a well-established structure where each Principal Developer leads a group of Senior, Level 2, and Level 1 Developers. Our team boasts over 50 years of combined tenure and is passionate about mentoring, quality delivery, and continuous improvement. This position is hybrid, requiring you to work in either our Glasgow or Edinburgh office two days a week. We offer a competitive salary of up to £67,000, plus a company bonus and a personal performance bonus of up to 10% based on goal completion.
