Job Title: AI Engineer
Contract: 12-month Fixed Term Contract
Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 (DOE)
To succeed in this role, I am looking for candidates with 3-5 years of total experience, including 1-2 years specifically in AI/ML. Essential skills include hands-on experience in Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, and Generative AI, along with proficiency in Python (specifically Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, and either PyTorch or TensorFlow). You should also have experience with SQL/NoSQL databases and APIs, as well as exposure to on-premise or open-source AI frameworks. Strong problem-solving abilities and excellent communication skills are a must. Preferred qualifications include knowledge of data structures, algorithms, solution architecture, familiarity with cloud AI platforms (such as AWS, Azure, or GCP), and an understanding of supervised, unsupervised, and deep learning methods.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will build and refine AI/ML models, including those based on large language models (LLM), and tackle tasks such as retrieval-augmented generation, fine-tuning, and prompt engineering. I expect you to design and implement AI-powered applications, integrating them with APIs, SQL/NoSQL databases, and Python-based solutions. Prototyping and testing AI applications to optimize their performance and scalability will also be a significant part of your responsibilities. Additionally, you will apply backend and data processing skills to handle both structured and unstructured datasets, stay current with open-source AI/ML frameworks (like Hugging Face and LangChain), and communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
