Requirements
Must:
- I require a strong Java development background, especially in modular or distributed systems.
- Familiarity with OSGi, Apache Karaf, and the DDF architecture is essential.
- I look for experience with REST APIs, secure data handling, and geospatial data formats.
- Proficiency with build tools (Maven), version control (Git), and CI/CD pipelines is necessary.
- I also value knowledge of geospatial standards (OGC, GeoJSON, WKT, etc.) and tools like Elasticsearch or Solr for search indexing.
- Familiarity with classified or sensitive data environments is important.
- An understanding of mission systems in defence and intelligence, particularly in ISR, is beneficial.
- Experience in independently understanding and writing source code is crucial.
Responsibilities
- My expectations include developing and maintaining a DDF-based catalogue system.
- I will need you to upgrade an existing DDF cataloguing system to the latest versions while preserving and enhancing custom-built features.
- Integrating and extending Codice Alliance tools with the existing catalogue will be part of your role.
- Building secure and modular services for ingesting, indexing, and querying geospatial and imagery data is essential.
- Working with OSGi, Apache Karaf, and other modular Java platforms is expected.
- I will require you to ensure compliance with data security, access control, and audit requirements.
- Lastly, creating design and build documentation derived from customer requirements is part of your job.

I am seeking a Software Engineer with hands-on experience in secure, modular systems to support the development of a Distributed Data Framework (DDF) catalogue and integrate features from the Codice Alliance framework. This position requires security clearance (DV - Developed Vetting) and is based primarily on-site in Farnborough, UK.
