Requirements
Must:
We are looking for a candidate who possesses a working knowledge of basic networking, including switch connectivity, IP addressing, subnetting, and default gateways. You should be able to identify cable types, port roles, and perform basic switch diagnostics. A foundational understanding of Wintel infrastructure is necessary, along with exposure to Windows Server environments (2012/2016/2019). Familiarity with Active Directory, DNS/DHCP, Group Policy, and standard Windows tools is essential. Security clearance is a priority, and candidates who currently hold or have previously held high-level security clearance are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will provide hands-on support as part of our infrastructure and system rollouts. You will attend client sites in Warwick and Wokingham or work remotely as required. Your duties will include liaising with on-site contacts to ensure smooth operation and communication, using a provided laptop to follow scripted configuration steps, and executing documented procedures with precision to apply configuration changes. You will maintain logs of changes and any unexpected issues you encounter, perform basic connectivity and ping tests, and verify successful implementation of configurations via standard network testing tools. Basic troubleshooting will also be part of your responsibilities, especially if ping tests fail, and you will escalate issues as necessary. You will also support ongoing infrastructure improvement initiatives and provide feedback to engineering leads on process efficiency and documentation clarity. Furthermore, contributing to our knowledge base by documenting lessons learned on-site is vital.
Description
This role is crucial to the successful delivery of our Terminal Services project. The On-Site Engineer position will require you to be on-site in Warwick for approximately four weeks and then in Wokingham for another four weeks. The Off-Site Engineer role allows for remote work but must be based in the UK.
