Requirements
Must:
You should possess extensive experience in designing, managing, and delivering large-scale research programs, both qualitative and quantitative. A proven ability to translate insights into strategic decisions that enhance services is essential. In-depth knowledge of user-centered design principles and a variety of research methodologies is crucial. Strong communication and influencing skills are required, enabling you to engage with senior stakeholders effectively. Expertise in accessibility and inclusive design is necessary to ensure services cater to all users. Demonstrable leadership experience is important, along with the ability to inspire and develop high-performing teams. While experience within Higher Education is desirable, it is not mandatory.
Responsibilities
As the Head of User Research, I will define and communicate a clear vision and strategy for user research aligned with the university's priorities. I will champion and embed a broad range of research methodologies, ensuring that user insights guide agile decision-making. I will establish and maintain standards for ethics, safeguarding, and accessibility in research practice. Additionally, I will lead the creation of research tools, resources, and repositories that support consistent, high-quality research. Translating findings into actionable insights that inform strategic recommendations and improve user journeys will be a key focus. I will define and track KPIs related to user outcomes, measuring the impact and success across projects. Mentoring, leading, and growing the user research team while fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture will also be part of my role. Collaborating with stakeholders at all levels, I will influence product and service decisions using evidence-based insights.
Description
This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the university's approach to user research and service design, playing a vital role in the university's Agile transformation and embedding user research at the core of agile product delivery. I will lead inclusive, impactful digital change that enhances the experience for staff, students, and wider stakeholders. This position is within a value-led organization committed to collaboration, creativity, compassion, and community. The role is based in Leicester, East Midlands, with a hybrid working model available. It is a permanent, full-time position (37 hours per week) with a salary range of Grade H £58,225 - £67,468 and excellent benefits.
