Requirements
Must:
- Must be eligible for Security Clearance (SC) and able to work on UK eyes only projects.
- Strong knowledge of IT networking, especially with Cisco, F5, and McAfee.
- Experience in configuring, troubleshooting, and upgrading network devices, with a solid understanding of LAN and WAN infrastructures, including switches, routers, and firewalls.
- Familiarity with IT monitoring tools such as WhatsUpGold, Microsoft Configuration Manager, System Centre Operations Manager, SNMP, and SysLog.
- Ability to implement and manage a Cisco VOIP system.
- Proficient in Microsoft Server Administration, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policies, disk management, troubleshooting, updates, and hardware repair.
- Experience in VMware/Microsoft hypervisor administration for managing a virtual environment.
- Strong IT troubleshooting and testing skills.
- Knowledge of applying security patches, using WSUS, auditing system log files, and anti-virus monitoring in alignment with IT security standards.
- Awareness of ITAR, EAR, DEAL, SCIDA accreditation requirements as per JSP 440 and 480.
- Experience in backup and recovery processes using tools like Symantec Backup Exec, Acronis Snap Deploy, and Windows Server backup.
- Ability to install servers, workstations, and network devices, following cable management standards that meet MoD regulations.
- Understanding of ITIL processes and procedures.
- Familiarity with Microsoft SQL database administration and web server administration.
Responsibilities
- I manage the day-to-day operations of the Lightning Systems Integration Facility (LSIF).
- I assist in building, producing, and maintaining LSIF hardware.
- I ensure compliance with LSIF security matters, including IVCO-related duties.
- I am involved in the planning, execution, and reporting of testing events as well as long-term facility planning.
- I support the procurement and management of LSIF hardware and software.
- I maintain configuration control of assets, documents, change requests, passwords, and other related resources.
- I strive to become a resident expert in the administration of our government-provided systems.
Description
This position is site-based in Portsmouth and is offered as a 12-month contract at a rate of £56.44 per hour (umbrella, inside IR35). The LSIF, located at the Maritime Integration & Support Centre on Portsdown Hill, is dedicated to testing and integrating the F35 Lightning II Aircraft within the UK military infrastructure. As a UKLTI Facility Engineer, you will be vital in implementing and maintaining the LSIF design. The role demands strong organizational and communication skills alongside technical abilities, as effective liaising between suppliers, owners, partners, and users is crucial to ensure optimal equipment availability. You will receive training to become proficient in the facility’s systems.
