Must:
We are looking for a candidate with extensive experience in quality engineering, particularly in leading organization-wide testing practices. You should possess a deep understanding of modern testing approaches and frameworks, along with a background in quality engineering and test automation at an enterprise scale. We value demonstrable success in building and leading communities of practice while developing quality engineering capability through coaching and development. You must have experience in designing and implementing quality governance frameworks that effectively balance delivery speed with assurance and risk management, supported by clear performance metrics. Proven ability to influence and align diverse stakeholder groups around quality approaches, particularly with Product and Quality Assurance teams in a user-centered environment, is essential. Additionally, practical experience in developing or implementing technical testing tools and processes at scale, particularly in test design and coverage approaches, is important.
Responsibilities
As the Head of Systems Quality, you will define and implement quality standards and testing frameworks for our systems and services. You will lead our strategic approach to quality engineering, collaborating across the organization to drive technical excellence and modern methods for delivering high-quality solutions. Establishing organization-wide quality governance to balance system assurance with delivery pace is a key component of this role. You will oversee the development of technical testing infrastructure and tools while defining career paths and developing quality engineering capabilities. Partnering with senior leaders across Architecture, Infrastructure, Product, and Engineering, you will align on a unified quality strategy and own the strategic quality direction and governance at a senior leadership level. Promoting a culture where 'quality' is viewed as a shared accountability across delivery teams will be essential to your success.
Description
We are undergoing one of the largest digital transformation programs in government, modernizing systems and services that underpin property ownership in England and Wales. This role is a fixed term appointment for 2 years with a potential extension to a permanent position, offering a salary ranging from £73,347 to £78,213, depending on location.
