Requirements
Must:
- Strong experience with network switching, routing, and firewall configuration.
- Proven track record in supporting multi-site IT operations and complex projects.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organisational skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding, equality, and continuous professional development.
- Level 2 English and Maths (or equivalent).
- Degree-level or equivalent professional IT qualification.
- Professional IT certifications (or working towards them).
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, and management of WAN, LAN, and wireless networks.
- Configure and manage firewalls, routers, and secure connectivity to third-party systems.
- Drive IT projects from planning to rollout, ensuring deadlines, quality, and service standards are met.
- Troubleshoot network infrastructure issues for users of all technical levels.
- Work closely with the Senior Cyber Security Engineer to maintain a secure IT environment.
- Develop automated monitoring and alerting systems to improve performance.
- Act as a point of escalation for complex IT issues and support the Service Desk.
- Stay up-to-date with technology trends to continuously improve our IT services.
Description
We are seeking a Senior Systems Networking Engineer to join our team, where you will play a key role in supporting and developing the network and systems infrastructure that keeps our colleges running smoothly. This is a full-time (37 hours per week), permanent role based on-site, with flexible working options available after successful completion of probation. In return, we offer a collaborative, student-focused environment, 30 days of holiday plus bank holidays, and a Local Government Pension Scheme.
