Requirements
Must:
- Education: A degree in Computer Science.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Hands-on programming experience with:
- Proficient in Python Programming.
- Key skills include Functions, classes, and object-oriented programming; List comprehensions; generators; Error handling.
- Experience working with virtual environments and package management (pip, venv).
- Data manipulation and analysis skills using Pandas and NumPy, with optional experience in Polars.
- Key skills in data cleaning and preprocessing, handling missing values, grouping, merging, pivoting, aggregations, and SQL.
- Knowledge of software engineering best practices.
- Key practices include version control with Git, writing modular and reusable code, unit testing (e.g., with pytest), code documentation, and using linters and formatters.
- Experience with Plotly Dash.
- Key skills in customizing with Plotly Graph Objects for advanced interactivity and creating dashboards with Dash, including callbacks, layouts (HTML & CSS integration), and components (dropdowns, sliders, graphs, tables).
- Experience fetching or sending data to backend services via REST APIs.
Responsibilities
As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and implementing data pipelines, ensuring efficient data processing, and collaborating with other team members to develop interactive dashboards. Your role will involve data manipulation, cleaning, and analysis, as well as maintaining best software engineering practices to enhance code quality and performance. You will work closely with both backend services and front-end applications, delivering seamless integration and user experiences.
Description
This is a contract position located in London, UK, offering a hybrid work arrangement. The rate for this position is between GBP 400-500 per day and falls within IR35 regulations. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about data engineering and enjoys tackling complex challenges in a collaborative environment.
