Requirements
Must:
We are looking for candidates who possess the following qualifications:
- 8 years of experience in software development and architecture.
- 5 years of hands-on experience designing and implementing solutions on AWS.
- Strong proficiency in AWS services, primarily Amazon SQS, Lambda, S3, CloudTrail, Aurora PostgreSQL, API Gateway, IAM, and AWS Athena.
- Experience with microservices architecture, serverless computing, and containerization.
- Proficiency in programming languages, primarily Python and Node.js, is a valuable addition.
- Expertise in DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, Jenkins, Git, etc.).
- Comprehensive knowledge of cloud security principles, including identity and access management, data protection, and threat mitigation strategies.
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional (preferred).
- Deep expertise in data modeling and integration is advantageous.
- Proven ability to conduct design workshops and work sessions to gather and analyze business requirements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address technical challenges and provide effective solutions.

Responsibilities
As an AWS Data Architect, I will expect you to:
- Create high-level blueprints for managing data assets and design scalable, secure AWS data solutions that align with business objectives.
- Design and build data models, pipelines, and storage solutions using various AWS data services (e.g., S3, Redshift, Glue, Lambda).
- Establish data policies, standards, and security controls (such as encryption and access management) to ensure data integrity, compliance, and accessibility.
- Collaborate with business analysts, data engineers, and other teams to gather requirements, propose migration strategies, and ensure alignment between technical solutions and business needs.
- Provide expertise in data management technologies, best practices, and emerging trends within the AWS ecosystem, often mentoring junior team members.
- Understand organizational needs and translate them into executable data strategy roadmaps and technical designs.
Description
The position is for an AWS Data Architect based in Glasgow. This is a contracting role offered in a hybrid working environment, requiring you to be in the office three days a week. The duration of the assignment is 6 months with one available position.
