Must:
I am looking for a Python Developer with proven experience in Python GUI development, specifically with PyQt (PyQt 5 or 6). You should be comfortable working on a modern Python/Qt tech stack and eager to contribute to early-stage machine learning feature development. I need someone who has a solid understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP), design patterns, and GUI architecture. Proficiency with tools like Qt Designer and knowledge of effective use of QThreading, signals, and slots are essential. You should also have experience in integrating REST APIs and working with local databases such as SQLite. Writing and maintaining unit tests, debugging, and optimizing code is also part of the role. Familiarity with Git for version control and participating in code reviews will be important.
Responsibilities
In this role, I expect you to design, develop, and maintain desktop applications using Python and PyQt. You will ensure that you follow clean, modular, and scalable coding practices. I need you to assist the lead Software Engineer on an internal tooling project to help free up their time for the main software product. You will actively participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement efforts within the team.
Description
This position is a contract role for an initial duration of 3 months, with a chance to extend, and operates outside IR35 due to small company exemption and specific project deliverables. Work will be completed remotely from any location within the UK. I'm open to discussing a flexible day rate based on your experience, typically in the ballpark of £500 - £550 per day.
