Requirements
Must:
- Project-focused security engineering experience.
- Firm and practical understanding of security engineering within cloud environments (Azure or AWS ideally).
- Understanding of architecture principles and secure by design.
- Excellent communication skills and a go-getter attitude.
- Ability to convey technical concepts to all levels of seniority.
- Experience integrating security into Agile and DevSecOps processes.
- Exposure to Tanium is useful.
- Skilled in using tools such as EDR, XDR, firewalls, WAF, and email security (experience with CrowdStrike, Palo Alto, and Microsoft Defender is advantageous).
- Hands-on experience with SIEM platforms, including configuration and data integration.
- Familiarity with cloud security, network security, and endpoint security across Windows, Linux, and macOS environments.
Responsibilities
- Work alongside security architects and project teams to assess designs, uncover potential risks, and integrate security best practices.
- Take responsibility for deploying security controls across projects and operational environments.
- Configure assets across a multi-cloud environment.
- Convert architectural designs into practical actions and processes.
- Integrate security into agile and DevSecOps processes.
- Ensure projects and designs are secure by design and be actively involved in creating and implementing the controls to ensure security.
- Monitor emerging trends and technologies, evaluating their potential for future adoption within the security strategy.
- Apply foundational security principles to new technologies and unconventional scenarios while enabling organizational objectives.
Description
We are a Manchester-based public sector organization seeking a Cyber Security Engineer to join our team. This role offers excellent training and progression opportunities in a hybrid working environment, with 2 days on site. We provide a competitive salary of up to £58,000, along with 29 days of annual leave excluding bank holidays, a 21% pension, and additional benefits.
